@lfc84 'They play around with taxes, fees and charges to manipulate the total fare in order to get bums on seats. Particularly for a quiet flight.'

Excuse the naivety, but surely adding on charges that have no basis is reality is not legal? I understand that there are charges and taxes, but if they are just making them up, surely the OFT should do something?
  • Flybe Rewards Flights are a joke...

Belfast to Leeds on 3rd May costing at £81.98

Same with many other FFPs... part of the reason BA introduced reward flight saver

£81.98 ticket is probably limited and unchangeable
  • Just to add that even trying dates 6 months in advance on various routes I have never been able to find a flight that i could spend my points on! And I have tried searching a few time over the 2 years i had the card.
The credit card seems a big waste of time.
I have tried on the phone and after a 20 min wait I was told there were some flights avalible but typically not on the days i wanted .

Personally wouldnt advise any one to get this card if it was for the free flights

I'd hardly call Creation "second rate"... Particularly as this is nothing to do with them. The Flybe frequent flier programme itself is utter rubbish - Creation track and hand over frequent flier points perfectly well.
  • Utter waste of time having this card. Not only has it proved completely impossible to get Reward flights at any time over the past 2 years they have the cheek to take the points off you when you don't use them within the timeframe.
And like previous posters when you do see a Reward flight there is no return, you can't book a single and almost on every occasion it has proved cheaper to book a flight as normal. Just a con. But then that's Flybe for you manipulating their fares and taxes.
Small wonder they are pulling flights when no one is travelling with them as they are too expensive.
Example: Flight from Belfast to southampton return for 2 people £ just shy of £300. Alternative: Belfast to Gatwick and train to southampton £130. Adds 2 hours to each journey but if you're away for 4-5 days no problem.
Why would I use Flybe? Strange thing too is that their flights are only about 50-60% full so why not make it more attractive.
  • I've not bothered reading through all of the posts on this thread and, frankly, I don't need to.

Guys, you are all being taken for mugs. Ditch the card as soon as you can. If you want to earn free flights then get something like the British Airways Amex or the Lloyds Avios Duo - you earn Avios, not inflexible 'free flight' vouchers. Once you have avios in your account you can book online without having to call anyone. Sure, sometimes you may struggle for reward flights on very popular routes at peak time, but I've booked flights with a couple of days notice on several occasions. Also, if you use the BA reward flight saver scheme, the taxes are capped at £35 for a return anywhere in zones 1-3 (basically all of europe).

What's the point in earning these so-called free flights with a budget airline anyway? Surely less hassle, if you must use Flybe, just to pay for cash tickets.

Budget airlines are not always as cheap as people first think, and 'proper' airlines aren't always as expensive as people assume...
  • In the hope that someone might actually benefit from this, let me expand on my last post a little.

Joining Avios/British Airways executive club is going to be better for most people if they want to fly from the UK to Europe for 'free' (nothing is ever actually free - there's always the bloody taxes..)

Get the Lloyds Avios Duo card or the BA Amex. These come in two flavours, a free version or one with an annual fee. You get a better earning rate on the paid cards and also a better sign up bonus of avios points.

Sign up bonuses are where you will really make the bulk of your points. Taking the Lloyds card as an example - the free one will get you 15,000 avios for spending at least £500 a month for the first three months (on the Amex card only). The card with the annual fee (£50) will get you 20,000 avios for the same spend.

20,000 avios is enough for two return flights with BA to nearby European destinations (or one return further away such as cyprus, turkey etc). Under BA's reward flight saver scheme you will only pay £35 for the return flight (or £17.50 one way - you can book one way if you like).

Most BA international flights leave from London, but here's the thing - under the RFS scheme, UK connections are completely free of charge. So, if yo live in say Belfast, you will get a flight from there to London, then another one on to your final destination for the same points/£35 as just flying from London. The internal flight is absolutely free.

There is very little point in joining a reward program for a budget airline (unless in a special position like the chap from Shetlands) as you will always have to pay the taxes on any reward flight, and with such airlines the taxes make up most of the ticket price. They make most of their money by selling you all the other !!!! such as 'priority' boarding or 'extra legroom seats' (AKA emergency aisle seats) and for such extravagances as actually taking luggage with you on holiday.

I did not receive a flight voucher and am now chasing my tail trying to get one as the scheme has now been scrapped and/or rebranded.
I've been told to email spend&fly@flybe.com quoting my name (as on card) address, date of birth, and last 6 numbers of card (no, they don't want pin, ccv, mother's maiden name & password etc like a recent dodgy 'paypal' scammail requested).

I'll try but I've not got much faith in this lot
