Then why on earth didn't you SAY you'd contacted the bank?If it is just a mistake and egg have, for no reason, paid me £2000, do I get to keep it?
From my moral high horse, I would NEVER EVER have considered keeping any money that didn't belong to me. From the above statement by you, can you say the same?I would prefer it if you didn't make moral judgements about me, based on very few facts.
Here's a tip when posting:
give us ALL the facts when you ask for advice.0 -
Just a thought,
Maybe the moral judgements were made because you were asking whether you could keep £2000 which was obviously placed in your account by mistake. If Egg are invesigating the payments why are you asking advice?
Oh I get it - You wanted to know if you are allowed to keep it... In a word NO.0 -

What an attitude to have. I hope you lose your wallet one day, and someone steals it. Hopefully then you'll know how it feels.0 -

Thanks for the lecture from your moral high horses! I hope you enjoy it up there.
I have actually contacted my bank (I did it before I posted here) they are in the process of investigating the payments, although this does take a few days. So i was just asking here for some advice, in what should be an open and friendly forum.
I would prefer it if you didn't make moral judgements about me, based on very few facts. Your holier than thou attitude come across as rudeness and arrogance when it it based on such little knowledge!
Sam
You didn't even give all the information. Perhaps before you post on a forum for help you should give all the facts. If you think someone is on a high horse because they think stealing £2,000 is wrong, you need some moral guidance.0 -
I bet if "all them peaple" claiming that they would never keep the money, I bet if it was in your accounts, you would be on holiday in Dubai!0

As someone whose husband lost his Christmas pay packet (yeah, years ago) with 2 weeks money plus holiday pay and the dishonest pig who picked it up didn't hand it in, I would NEVER, EVER keep anything that didn't belong to me.
I found a purse in the street, complete with a driving licence in it and phoned to say I'd found it. The young girl (a student at uni) was distraught. When I took it back, she'd bought me a bunch of flowers.
To me, that felt better than a holiday in Dubai.
I believe what goes around, comes around and I agree with chocolatechipcookies - I hope someone has the same attitude to you and the OP if you should ever be unfortunate enough to lose something.0
