If you don't want to make sweet things, you could add it to HM baked beans - I use treacle, so I'm sure this will work, too

I was looking for Blackstrap Molasses at the weekend and couldn't find it anywhere, no-one even knew what I was talking about when I asked. Ended up having to get black treacle as a substitute. The recipe I needed the molasses for was the 'healthiest flapjack in the world' - full of dates, raisins, apples, goji berries, nuts and seeds, and for something so healthy it actually tasted quite nice!

Tete en L'air......Healthiest flapjack, sounds heavenly could I possibly ask you to post the recipe please, or the name of the magazine and I'll search on t'internet for it. We're going on a walking holiday next week and sounds like a good thing to makeBanana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0

Can anyone tell me if I can substitute black treacle for blackstrap molasses? Are they the same thing?
