Card repayment cover and fee's

Dear all

I have just recieved my Credit card statements from RBOS and to my shock i have been charged around £752 on late fee's and overlimit charges(overlimit charges are due to them lowering my credit limit i might add) and i also spotted a repayment cover insurance at 78p per £100 adding to a further £400 to the balance throughout the duration of the accounts life.
Now then, can i claim the repayment scheme back? It isn't in force anymore they must have terminated it. I cannot remeber even asking for the protection either. And what about the overlimit fee's? Due to them lowering the limit, that put me over the limit! Surely thats not right?

Unfortunately, it is right. and unfortunately, it's up to you to check your balances and keep track of what's going on. Your statements would've stated your limit, and you should take up digital banking, everything you need to know is on there.

There's loads of info about claiming back PPI, sure people will be able to help, I don't know anything about it though. :)

  • Dear dhassen i want answers to my questions, not comments on my responsibility. My credit limit was about £1500 with a balance of,say £1200 i made a late payment twice then they lowered limit to £750 making me over my limit. You get the picture now?
  • Yes I get the picture - but it is still your fault.
If you did not want PPI on the card it was your responsibility to find out what was covered for the cost and cancel it if it was not suitable.
You would have been notified of the lowered limit.

    But you asked the question:
    Surely thats not right?

And I answered it.... sorry if it's not what you want to hear!

I'm not saying it's 'fair' but yes it is right.... and I still don't see how you weren't aware of what was happening, did they send you letters etc?
