Reclaiming ppi

I have been trying to reclaim ppi from Lloyds tsb. I have now sent the first 2 template letters but no joy. They tell me that because when I signed up for my loan they gave be a booklet explaining the insurance, it was not therefore missold. However I am unhappy about this answer as I signed up for a new loan in December and again was not told the insurance was optional - I queried this but got the impression I would not get the loan if I didnt sign up. Being more aware now, I signed on the dotted line, but came home and promptly cancelled. With the first lot of ppi, they have suggested that I could still cancel this, but that would mean I would only stop paying it for a further year, whereas I have already paid it for 4 years. With the last refusal they sent me a leaflet for the ombudsman, as if to say " go on - dare you to try". Any suggestions on whether to go further or what to do would be welcome!
