PPI Reclaiming discussion Part II

I had a "final response" from Lloyds TSB this morning.
It states 'I note from our records that you informed us you were a carer on benefits at the time of the sale. I should explain that although you were not working, you were still eligible for the cover under the Hospitalisation and Life sections of the Policy and could also benefit from the Positive Job Solutions.' 'In view of the above I am afraid that we do not feel that there are any grounds to refund the premiums as you've requested'
I presume that I just go ahead and take this to the Ombudsman/next stage now? Or should I just forget it?0 -

Have you dropped the information commisioner a line about the situation? as i think it might be pertinant before continuing as he might decide to intervine on your behalf.0 -
I think the first time I had 1k cash to buy a laptop etc while at college, the 2nd time it was another 1k to buy a car, the 3rd time was for 2k for my first flat, then another 1k to upgrade my car etc- each time it was only for 1k at a time with the exception of the 2k mentioned and a £1500 to get the car sprayed and clear my overdraft.
Thanks x
Well if that was the case take those top ups off the amount i said which would make it approximately an overcharge of approximately £1.5k maybe. Ok so now were up to £4.5k. Have they restructured the loan when you cancelled the PPI as that would knock of approximately £2k of the balance. That makes the total of £6.5k saved so far. I would write to the FOS outlining the case with all the pertenant documentation and hopefully the debt will be reduced significantly.0 -

Never give up. Did you definently want the cover in the first place? were you made aware of the charges and the fact it was optional? There is more than one way to skin a cat.0 -

ok am guessing here:
225*12
190.55*7
total = 4033.85
so i total you have paid £4033.85 so far and they say that you still owe £7000. Hmmm chances are you are being ripped off but as i said unless you get the quote for the settlement figure written down you won't see how much is left on the loan and how much they add to it. Plus you can't see if they refunded you for the PPI you had already paid.
you are such a star
I do read your posts so thanks for all your advice and support its really appreciated

Hi Kaia, sorry for the delays in my replies I am away quite a bit so am picking up the updates as and when I can.
Re. your hubby being insured and you not, generally this is that way it works for typical finance loans, mortgages are different where two persons can be insured at a split % of the insured amount.
I am really sorry as I am going to ask you to just bullet point your reasons for reclaim and who the lender is. I know this will be on the thread but just got in from work an hour or so ago, knackered and going to bed. Do you also know who at Pinnacle you have been dealing with?
If the above is to much as you are obviously well down the line don't worry, I am sure you are stressed enough with all their crap.
Take care
GKHi GK...
Yes my policy was underwritten by Pinnacle I believe, I have never made a claim on the policy, which was 5 years cover over a 16 year loan.( Loan is still current)
My hubby is in employment and I was not so we had been sold single cover plus ....meaning he was covered and I was covered only for life.0 -

Norton finance sold us the loan and PPI on behalf of First plus
I have sent a letter of complaint to norton who have replied they do not uphold the complaint
We settled the loan with first plus and have also sent them a letter regarding unfair rebate - we paid off the loan and recieved a very small rebate.
They have offered us a rebate of 4,200 as a gesture of good will
My query is do i go to the FOS to push for more money back re unfair rebate or accept their amount and chase up the mis-selling from norton finance????
Has anyone had any luck with gaining a higher amount of unfair rebate???
I have contacted FOS to see if they can guide me in the right direction
my thoughts are that i should be able to accept the amount offered from first plus which is 50% of PPI
and then claim the remainder of the cost of PPI plus payments made and intrest from norton finance if FOS uphold mis-selling claim“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0
