Dla knockback..next step help please!

hi i put in a claim for the mobility componant of DLA in jan and it has just been refused.i had a chap from social services fill out the claim for me but after they wrote to my doctor and i dont know if the doctor has written anything that would be unhelpfull to the claim or not.can i find out what the doc wrote (i dont see the doc im registered with so they dont know me really) and if i can find out ,where from?also i did see a doctor a few weeks ago and she wrote to the council and got me my blue badge and the criteria for that states that to recieve it i should be in a condition that should not fall short of the criterea required to recieve the higher rate of Dla (mobility)so cant see where they have deciced i shall not have anything!my condition is i was born without a hip joint and was diagnosed with arthertis in my hipjoint at 24 so this has got gradually worse (now 35)also causing pelvic pain spd in and after pregnancy plus i have a prolapsed uterus which means great discomfort and difficulty when i walk.i am having adaptations to my home because of my difficulties etc and wondered if they take any of this into account?i phoned the ss bloke and he said not much point appealing but to me there is as im in agony and find it hard to walk and without the help if recieving the dla i am going to be totally housebound as i am due to give birth and all the kids wont fit in the car and i have no money to buy a people carrier.what is the best way to suceed in my claim, any tips, things i should mention...would they take into account letters off people involved in my care for example?thanks in advance (sorry its a bit muddled)jox

I woud suggest getting in touch with DIAL.

Although i can't find the number easily (there site hasn't been updated for years) http://www.dialuk.info/findadial/index.asp would probably be best for you.

Always put this as your worst day. My mum has got chronic polycystic liver disease and was refuesed, she can hardly walk and move yet she was told she was perfectly fine by the Doctor she had to see.

Good luck with your claim, keep us up dated and i hope you get the help needed.

u can appeal, in which case they send u what u and ur doctor wrote on the forms and as above alway tell how u feel on ur worse days not a normall day during which u cope,, the forms r dodgy as any 1 will tell u if u dont fill it in to there ideas of wot is wrong then u dont get DLA appeal either in writting or in person and c how u get on from there good luck

Just appeal. I was refused when i claimed despite the fac i have a degenerative condition that affects my central nervous system. I won on appeal.

It has since came up for renewal again and once again they have knocked me back even though i have gotten worse and my medication has had to be increased.

I literally have not heard of anyone getting it without a no answer first.

Definately appeal, go to CAB or Welfare Rights asap and ask for their help. I was refused DLA initially and won at appeal. Unfortunately 6 weeks after my win they have asked me to reapply! But appeal, you might just win!;)
  • hithanks for the replies,i will appeal, just not looking forward to it as its mortifying having to go through your medical conditions and then they treat people like they are making it all up or somat. ive deciced though that i am going to stick with it as its ok me not being able to walk but when it affects my children as well as me then i should claim for the help i need.wish me luck lol as sure i am going to need it!x

  • You have to keep fighting no matter how hard or degrading it might feel, DLA is there to help make your life more bearable and you have the right to it. All you have to do is tell the truth no-one can look down on you for being disabled, if they do they should be ashamed.
