Hi,
I want to apply for long 0% on purchases card. I see that Halifax and CapitalOne have best deals at the moment (10 and 12 months). I have decent credit history. Anyone has any experience with these providers? Is it very difficult to get one of these? Anyone knows their criteria for these deals from the real life experience?
Thanks in advance.

Halifax give less than average credit limits IMO, Capital One have been above average. Min repayments are 3% for C1 and 2% for Halifax. Both seem to allow you to reapply for a new card shortly after cancelling with them. I'd say the standard interest tends to be higher on C1 than Halifax but that's hardly the point if you intend to use it for interest-free purchases and then pay off the balance at the end
But according to stoozing.com the Capital one offer is now 14 months;

From experience Capital One is strict on applicants, the only card I've ever been refused for. No experience with Halifax but recently applied for and got 0% deals with Tesco, Abbey, Natwest and one other which I can't remember. Got a similar credit limit with all of them, some I did via quidco for a little extra back...2p off is still 2p off!0

If you click on this link it says 14 months but when you go further to the C1 site you see that the deal is until 01/05/09. Also they ask for excellent credit rating. One of the conditions is to have CC with the £5000 limit at least. I have two with £4000. Not sure how strict they are on these conditions.There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.0 -
Martin believes that Cap One scores harshly, so if you can't meet the criteria stated on the C1 website, I would plump for Halifax or possibly HSBC.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0

Thanks for the advice.
My HSBC card is coming to an end of the 0% deal so HSBC is not an option. I have an impression that they won't be ready to negotiate to make initial 0% deal longer. Or someone else has a good experience with them in renegotiating?There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.0 -
Worth a try in my opinion, I've had success in doing it with Barclaycard, LLoyds TSB and MBNA2p off is still 2p off!0
