Where are my cookies stored?

The official answer from Microsoft is:

Cookies are stored is in a folder named Cookies which is stored inside the Documents and Settings folder. By default, the path is C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Cookies.

I have looked for this folder but it's not there, and I have made hidden folders visible. I have searched for all *.txt files and I'm not getting much coming back. I have not recently deleted my cookies and I have not knowingly disabled them, in any case websites I visit regularly recognise my details.

Where should I be looking please? I am running XP Home edition.

If you want to view cookies assuming you are using Internet explorer 7 go to...

In Internet explorer 7 go to:Tools>Internet Options

then under 'Browsing history' you will see a button that says 'Settings' click that then click 'View files'

You will see all your internet history as well as cookies.

Cookies will have 'cookie:' at the beginning of them.

    Hope this helps
