Mineral Make up

Check on QVC when they are next inviting Laura Geller products on - they always have pretty good promotions. I can't remember how much I paid for the initial set containing the trial sizes but I know it was less that £20. I tried the Avon one and didn't particularly like it as it was difficult to find the right shade and the powder went all over the place!

    Good luck

I have just order 9 things to try from there for under a tenner
I wasnt sure what colours to go for so I went for a selection all mid colour range.
I hope they allow that many samples
    Thanks again for that link
I think you can have as many samples as you like. I've just counted mine & I got 6 foundations, 4 blushers & 6 eyeshadows! :o

I've been using Bare Escentuals for about a year now and have only used about half of the first pot so it lasts for ages - take that into account when you think of the price.

I've a friend who tried the Avon one and found it much coarser than the BE.

I bought BE for both my DDs at Christmas and they're both delighted with it.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I have been reading all you posts with interest and I too would like to try this mineral makeup but looking on the internet there seems to be some negative reviews from women with mature skin. I am 52 but have fairly good skin, no problems as regards spots etc but have some pigment discolouration, freckles etc. I would hate to look like a painted lady. Any ideas? Is it worth trying?
    Would welcome comments.

I am older than you and love the Bare Escentuals range. It is so very light that it looks completely natural, whereas, on me anyway, foundation always seems to look 'wrong' somehow (never sure what it is, but looks unnatural).

    Hope this helps you decide.

I had my samples come yesterday and I have been playing about with it.
I dont know if I am doing something wrong but I am finding its settling too much in my laugh lines (nicer than wrinkles)
My skin isnt in the best of conditions I have dimpling as well and it seems to show that up more.
    Anyone offer any advice?

    TIA

    Hi,

You made me think some more about mineral make up and by co-incidence I came across THIS THREAD which might help!

Before using Laura Gellar mineral baked powder I was a Sheer Cover user. This mineral powder came with a finishing powder that if you used it before the mineral foundation colour it would slightly diminish pore size so something similar may work on laughter lines. Must admit I hate those lines from my nose to my mouth (can't remember the technical term) and sometimes the Sheer Cover would settle after a while there but I think I may have applied it too heavily in one go.

A good alternative is a pre base makeup cream used before your mineral foundation (allow to dry first). Many cosmetic companies manufacture these.

Remember to gradually build your colour and using the brush work it in (not too harshly).

Stick with it and practice; it's worth it I promise.

    Good luck

I have been playing again today and this time I tried the mineral veil first, then a small amount of foundation but went for a lighter one this time and it was much better.
I will keep praticing 1 week to go before I have to look stunning...lol or at least decent :D
