re-negotiating house price after survey results

I recently had an offer accepted on a property. I had a homebuyers report survey done on the house which showed a number of problems categorised as priority 3 - requiring immediate attention. I have instructed specialist contractors to provide me with quotes for the work which needs doing and am now wanting to re-negotiate on my accepted offer. I have been advised by a friend that any negotiations should now be done through my solicitor rather than the estate agent. Is this correct?

I'd use the EA. That's what they are there for. Solicitors do conveyancing, EA negotiators, well, they negotiate!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Use your EA, that is their job.
When you get quotes, make sure you add a percentage like 15%, in case of fluctuations and if the works cost more than initially planned, factor in this when you negottiate.
Also, your EA may ask if they can glance over the homebuyers, so they are in the best position to negotiate with the vendor, so it might be worth photocopying the relevant pages of the homebuyers report to give to the EA.
