12 Month Interest Free Deal

I recent signed up to a "12 month interest free" deal to enable my son to buy the new Nikon camera he wanted. Basically he was about £100 short but was desperate for it, so I got it for him using this deal. I intend to pay this off no later than say six months when he has saved the money, but find that to pay it off within the 12 months there is a £30 "admin charge". Has anyone else come across this and is it one of those "charges" that is unlawful, or not legal?? Can I get out of paying it? Any advice gratefully received - thanks.
