Hi - I think that you are confusing AAA with AA here
The 2500mAhr ones at Argos are definitely AA, which is pretty much the max for AAs at the moment.
The highest capacity I have yet found for AAA is 900mAhr - remember, capacity is a function of size, and AAAs are smaller than AAs
If you look at earlier posts to this thread, the online retailer you quote is reputable, you will get a refund if you choose Insurance and as you can buy twice as many than for the same price as Argos, you can even afford to lose one set - so no problem :rotfl:
Re. the poster asking about chargers, well again I refer you to my earlier post. I have a MAHA Inteligent AA / AAA NiMh charger that can charge 2 or 4 cells in up to 2 hrs. A cheap Overnight type is what I started from and it is sitting gathering dust ever since I bought the MAHA a couple of years ago.
That said, there is an occasion when an Overnight would be useful. Ocasionally, Inteligent chargers will refuse to accept cells if they are outside parameters eg unbalanced pairs / over-drained etc. The slow 30-50mA charge an unintelligent overnight charger gives can often 'reset' batteries back to usefulness. (A tip from Electric Radio Control Flying)
I recommend that you get a charger with a 12V car cig adapter lead too. This means that wherever you go in the world, no matter the AC voltage used, there will always be someone with a car so that you charge your spare NiMh batteries (I've found).
Finally, from my 5 - 6 years of digicam experience, always take at least one complete spare set of batteries and always have one set fully charged - it will pay off!
I hope this advice helps.
Regards

I need 4 x AAA for my new digital camera which drains normal batteries quite quickly. I've seen some rechargeable high drain ones in Argos but they are £12.99 for 4 which is out of my expected price range. However, they are 2500 mAh.But then again, they are expensive
There are others at Argos -
4 x AAA (600 mAh) for £4.99
4 x AAA (700 mAh) for £6.49
4 x AAA (750 mAh) for £7.49
4 x AAA (900 mAh) for £9.99
4 x AAA (2500 mAh) for £12.99
Tesco:
4 x AAA (850mAh) for £8.47
What do these prices look like? Are there other retailers who sell these products out there which I've obviously not heard of? And is it worth paying double the price (£9.99) for just 300 mAh extra when adding another £3 on top of that would get 2500 mAh (for £12.99)?
I've been looking at these ones from ebay but can anyone say what he's like and what happens if they 'go missing' as they aren't sent recorded delivery. (I've never bought on ebay before!)
Thanks,
CC :beer:0 -
Bought some of these the other day. Excellent fast service and the little battery tester is a nice freebie.
I've justy posted a new thread for a Panasonic charger for £9.99 from Morrisons that one of the advanced Delta V thingies that stops you overcharging.0 -
Digiteer wrote:Whatever you do, get an "Intelligent" Charger for Rechargable Batteries.
Basically, such a charger will put a full charge in until it monitors that the cells are full and stops (called delta V detection). usually th faster it charges, the more expensive it will be.
Do NOT use an older NiCd Charger (unless it specifically states that it can handle NiMH too) Dig
I bought 2 sets from the component shop. Next day delivery and a good price. Now this charger thing, if I must use the right one, The best intelligent charger I have seen is £17.99 in Amazon. I have a £5 voucher, but it's £5 postage
If it's best to have a proper charger, then can anyone suggest the best place to get one?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
If you want some guidance on how to get the best from rechargeable batteries and batteries in general, I found this site gave a very good, and apparently impartial, advice. It has information for everyone, from the layman to the much more technically minded.

Slight word of caution regarding these batteries as they must be a fraction wider than standard AA batteries. I almost broke my wireless mouse trying to prise them out.0

Hi all,
I too, have recently purchased quite a few batteries, and other bits and pieces, from the guy who runs the component shop on e bay.
Delivery was very fast and I had no problems whatsoever.
As for an intelligent battery charger, I would advise that the cheapest intelligent charger that i have seen so far is on
https://www.7dayshop.com
I have also used 7dayshop numerous times over the past couple of years and have never had a problem with them either.
I hope this post helps someone
