Hi, I have recently being looking for the best deal in rechargeable AA batteries. NiMH are superior to the old NiCds, can be resused up to 1000 times (!) and modern types are approaching the capacity of single use Alkaline AAs.
The best I have found so far is from here:
Component Shop
The owner is an Electronics Engineer who has actually tested and approved these batteries and he has answered my 3 separate technical questions by return.
Rechargable Batteries are a little more complicated than I thought - ie different makes are definitely not the same quality, some manufactures over-egg capacities (as who actually checks?) etc. For Radio Control work, given the cost of the kit, skimping on battery quality is just not worth it.
I ordered 2 lots of these and they arrived next day, and can confirm that they are everything promised.
Whatever you do, get an "Intelligent" Charger for Rechargable Batteries.
Basically, such a charger will put a full charge in until it monitors that the cells are full and stops (called delta V detection). usually th faster it charges, the more expensive it will be.
Do NOT use an older NiCd Charger (unless it specifically states that it can handle NiMH too) and avoid cheaper "timer" chargers as these put a preset charge in for a preset time only, so when you get higher capacity batteries, it can never give you a full charge! It took me a while to work out why my (then) new 2000 mAhr set of AA batteries were never any better than my old 1300mAhr set using the same charger!
So there will be cheaper out there but the combination of price, quality, free tech support plus a couple of freebies like a battery tester and cases, makes this a true bargain in my book
I have no links with this seller. There are so many boxshifters out there who don't know / care about the stuff that they sell - it was good to find someone who actually knows what he is talking about for a change - hence sharing in this forum.
Regards to all

I'm sorry that you're suspicious / cynical - sign of our times I guess.
Having benefited from bargains on this site too - I was just trying to give a little back, because, yes, I now do know more about rechargeable batteries than most Users and was simply trying to pass on this knowledge to you guys.
Also, I wished to thank the owner for his above average help by providing a personal recommend, in that this is worth a lot to a small operation.
I cross-posted this to another Bargain site that I have been a member of for some time: one member was initially cynical too but a couple of members have since backed up my comments.
If I provided too much detail here, it is a lazy Sunday and you should have seen the detail I went into in the other site!
Browntoa - you've used the same guy (lives in Wales) - is there anything I (who live in the Solent area) have said that is untrue or have misrepresented to the group?

By the way - the guy's Ebay profile has 11,192 transactions with a 99.9% positive response rate - I don't think he would need to spam a couple of bargain basement Internet Forums in a single post...
...maybe he's created the Digiteer_uk profile with 173 transactions at 100% positive response rate just to buy 16 batteries from himself to cunningly fool you all...
...I'm calming down now :rotfl:
Actually I take back my earlier 'cynical' comment, Healthy Scepticism is to be encouraged - but in view of the above, hopefully my good name is no longer in doubt?
Good night to you all

I agree with Digiteer - these batteries represent very good value.
I don't think this particular ebay seller (itl-e) is much in need of boosting sales by recommending himself on MSE - just look at his feedback!
In the last 12 months, he has had 13,156 positive feedback, and only 10 negative! 99.9% of his customers are satisfied - probably because he is selling good products, at good prices, with good service, just like Digiteer posted!People are more important than things0 -
I can vouch for this ebay seller. I purchased rechargable batteries from him earlier in the year and they were the best price I could get at the time. And after about 4 months when one of the batteries developed a fault, I emailed him to let him know and he sent me out a brand new replacement next day delivery.
I will certainly purchase from him again.0 -
I have also bought batteries from him, fantastic quality, still going strong now, 9 months later!!0

no...no problem with the guy and i've since seen the post by you on another forum so i take back my doubts
I'd only half an hour before reported some first posts by a guy who was raving about a new site he had found, with a little digging turned out he owned the site....i was still in cynic mode....
I apologise for doubting your postEx forum ambassador
