Free transactions - Which Credit Card??

Looking for advice as a first time "poster"! I have been an Alliance & Leicester Credit Card user for years (convenience!)
and have always paid off the balance in time to avoid any charges - I today recieved a letter from the good old A&L telling me that they now intend to charge me 1.4566% for each (non-cash) transaction I make, ie. if I spend a £100 at Tesco on a weekly shop I get charged £1.46p even if I clear the balance
Not keen on this - What card providers are out there that do not charge for transactions (or am I an old fa*t asking for the world?)
THANKS

Wow... that's crazy. I have never heard of anything like that before! Read the guides Martin and co have put together, and apply for one that suits your needs best.0

You've misread the letter. All they're doing is raising your APR to 18.9%.
The 1.4566% is the monthly rate of interest that would be charged if you didn't clear your balance each month. Since you do, the rate is insignificant.0 -
Got to admit that you could be right but certainly the letter does not read like thisYorkshireBoy wrote: »You've misread the letter. All they're doing is raising your APR to 18.9%.
