Just read terms and conditions for Cafe Rouge offer and it says - Reservation needs to be made in advance quoting 'American Express Menu'.

Is this the same as the set menu?

Ha Ha, Just read the comment above and will take 'richyrich's advice!!

Just received a voucher booklet in the post

    www.amexnetwork.co.uk/eatout

I can't get the page to open on my PC! At the back of the booklet, it mentions lots of other restaurants, but I can't tell if there are any discounts on these.

I'm not sure what you're worried about. An AmEx card is an AmEx card regardless of who it's issued by.
  • I also received the mailshot today and read in the inside front of the little Amex booklet the following, 'We've also included a list of more great places to eat out with your American Express Card.'

A list of restaurants does not really mean anything if no discounts are attached to them - it is just a list of places to rack up your Amex credit card.

Just thought I'd bump this thread, have just been to Nandos to make use of the Amex offer and to give OH a bit of a treat on Father's Day ;) . The Amex offer does not happen automatically, only because I mentioned the offer when waving my Amex card did I get the deal. Their till is set up in such a way they can only deduct 1 child's meal per order after pressing a magic key, so I ended up putting our food (2 adults, 2 children) through as 2 separate orders in the end after voiding the first order. The guy was very helpful (more so than his manager!) but it took so long, by the time I was done paying and had gone back upstairs to join my family, the food had been cooked and was on its way up as well!!

But we had a very nice meal, paid less than usual and I might make use of this offer again before the end of July :D .

    HTHS.

I thought the Amex Cafe Rouge 3 courses for £15 offer sounded good value till I checked on the Cafe Rouge website to see what was on offer at my nearest restaurants - Durham is doing a 3 course menu for £10.95 and York has one at £9.95. On that basis the Amex 'special offer' doesn't seem special at all.
  • I checked out the other offers for York and Durham at Cafe Rouge and they are only 2 courses not 3 so the Amex one seems good, also I think the other ones are only pre theatre and not all the time.

    Hi Helen

I looked back to the Cafe Rouge Durham site to double check and make sure I hadn't misread it - this is copied and pasted from the site:

'Our Prix Fix menu offers great value at £8.95 for two courses and £10.95 for 3 courses - We also have a 2 course and a drink set meal for £10.95 - ideal for light lunch or a quick pre-theatre dinner.'

It doesn't matter who the provider / sponsor is e.g. Lloyds, Nectar, Tesco etc.

AmEx is providing the service to facilitate payment the same way VISA has been plastered all over loads of different cards like Barclaycard etc. etc. for years.

I have a Nectar AmEx card and have used it successfully to take advantage of many American Express offers like the 30% off at GAP they had last year.

As an AmEx card holder of any type you can register and manage your card online at www.americanexpress.co.uk from there you can access all the rewards / offers they have available.

So in short there is no issue with using your Lloyds Duo card (AMEX). I'm going to be applying for one myself before the month is out to take advantage of the free airmiles!
