Alliance Leicester cannot transfer online saver to esaver

I noticed that alliance leicester reduced the interest on their online saver so I opened up an esaver which has a hight rate.

Problem is they will not let me transfer money directly from my old online saver to the esaver. Seems pretty ridiculous. Does anyone know if there is a way that this can be achieved.

You have to go through the linked current account or if you phone them up and threaten to remove the whole amount and not put it back you will be passed through to second level who will move it from one account to another without going through the linked account.

Dont forget the interest penalty if you do move.

Is there a way I can pay into my esaver from a different account?

For example I have a current account with Lloyds and I want to transfer £200 from that account into my esaver. I don't seem to have any paying in details. The Lloyds account is not an alliance and leicester nominated account.

Beware, that many banks do not cope with all zero account numbers!!!
