My property was valued at 300K in 2007 recently sold for 250K within a week. Of course I want lower prices in real terms rather than actual drops.

Just out of interest Emy, when did you purchase this property and what was the value then?

it's fine Emy - it's not us that you have to convince. it's all good.

just remember that your parents owning 6 properties is taking properties out of the supply and restricting people buying their own property and obviously increasing prices.

as long you're comfortable with making property more expensive that it should be for you're children and then your children's children that's all that matters...

I own one property. How many do you own?

it's not about me Emy, i'm comfortable being "greedy" - its about you wanting property to be cheaper but still wanting to get as much as possible for your own property.

it's normal behaviour and nothing wrong with wanting as much as possible for your property but don't try and claim the moral high ground by then saying you want lower prices.

    so.... £230k minus a 25% deposit is a £205k mortgage...

you're wanting someone to have a salary of £68k to buy your place when the average UK salary is around £30k.

tut tut Emy... if you want lower house prices why don't you sell it for 3 times the average earnings for your local area...

if you want house prices to be lower go and sell your house for less so that somone on an average wage can buy it...

Never suggested the moral high ground. I have simply said lower prices in real terms in my opinion would be best for the ecomony.

May you can give us your opinions on whether huge real term growth is a good thing?

of course massive amounts of growth aren't good in general terms - everything redresses itself in time though.

you have to make the most of the opportunities set in front of you whilst there is growth - just like you and your parents have done...

It's because there are lots of them in here.
I'm sure we all are to some degree but there does seem to be a plethora of them in the "HPC" camp. I'm afraid it is all stacked up on jealousy, but again, it is a natural human reaction. It's just amusing to watch people deny stuff that is perfectly obvious to others.

Well it's one thing I haven't been accused of yet.
