Changing ISP's

I want to change ISP's in order to save money - however my contract is not up for another 15 months, but I'm not getting the connection speeds qouted in the package description; can I change, or will I still be charged?

what speeds are you getting? i'm guessing you're on an 'up to 8 meg' package, pretty much anything below this, even 512kbs, could be considered acceptable

I am getting just over 2 Meg.

not without penalty, no.
it is quite likely that you are a long way from the exchange, hence the low speed, get your line stats and post 'em. you may be lucky and there may be an obvious problem that can be fixed by you or the isp (aol?!)

My bb speed is 1.76 Mbps and the speed advertised is up to 2 Mbps. When I changed contract I expected a much speedier connection for my money. I am with Orange

They never promise you a speed.

You can't cancel on grounds of speed if you are getting 1.76 mb.

I think what I'll do is change when the contract is up

by then, 21cn may be around, and your speed may improve



fwiw, you never did post your line stats, which would help show if there is a real problem
