Do I need a new lease?

Hi all,
Just hoping you can help. I have been renting my house for almost a year and the lease runs out in June (I know I'm early). I was lucky enough to sell my house to a private landlord and stay in it, and the lease was arranged by my solicitor at the time of sale.
I just wanted to know how to go about arranging a new lease. The LL does have an estate agent who acts for him (he owns several properties) however I have never dealt with them. In fact I have never been in contact with my LL at all for the past year. I pay my rent directly into his bank account and get on with life.
I am just concerned though as I have 4 children and worry about security.
Does anyone have any advice about the best way to organise a new lease for 12 months. This is the first time I have rented.
Many thanks

If the EA is dealing with it, they noramlly send you a letter about 2 months before asking you to renew. They will charge you for a new lease. The Landlord has to give you two full rent months notice to leave unless you were issued with a 'Section 21' notice when you signed the contract, in which case it gets a bit complicated.
If you let the tenancy run out, it will go onto a rolling contract (called a Periodic Tenancy) which will continue on the same terms, except the LL can give you two full rent months notice and you can give them one full rent months notice. That costs nothing of course.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
