hiya
im going to turkey on friday with my other half for 2weeks b n b . just wandered if any1 has been to turkey, were staying in altinkum, and what the prices are like for eating out etc?
we have saved £800 for 2weeks..we have never been away for 2weeks b4 just a week and would usually spend £500ish between us.
is it easy to use travellers cheques there, or exchange them whatever you do?!we havent ever taken them before
where should we change our ££ over here? post office? travel agent?
any tips would be fab, thanx

We are off today for about the 10th time.
We don't take travellers cheques anymore we just take english notes. You can use these at the markets etc. but it is easy to change money anywhere there are loads of kiosks usually commission free.
Prices are cheap only thing more expensive is imported spirits so stick to wine or beer if that is suitable.Food can be as cheap as you want for eg you can get a doner kebab from 50p.last year a pepper steak was about £4 don't know how much the prices will have gone up this year.Good bargains at the markets you can always haggle if the price is not good some of them say silly prices whilst others do say sensible prices from the start,
A must is a turkish bath! Not to be missed! Also a shave etc for oh also a must just for the experience.travelover0 -

Take half english and half euros or turkish. The shops, cafes and bars accept english and everthing is priced in euros.
Make sure you watch the bills in resturants because they will attrct you in by saying that the first drink is free but it will be on the bill in most resturants.
Have the drink and then move on if you do not like the look of the food people are ordering around you. That way you have had a drink free and checked out the food.
Best way is to get to know a place early on. Go the on a regular basis and they will love it. Free drinks and free sweets. If your other half has blond hair you are on to a winner. everyhting will be free0 -
