MBNA PPI Claim

Hi all

i am trying to reclaim PPI insurance on my MBNA credit card which I have had for 5 years. My argument is that I didn't realise I had it, that I didn't realise it was optional and that I already held a protection policy and therefore it wasn't needed.

I have had a response from MBNA, in which they have included a copy of the original application form which shows I ticked the box agreeing to the PPI. They have said this shows I knew I was selecting the insurance and that I had 30 days in which to cancel. This letter is there final response.

Do I have any other course of action open to me? Can I still contact the FOS?

thank you in advance
Jess

Good luck with this one. My OH has same response from MBNA, and has now sent his claim to FOS. They sent a copy of agreement with typewritten "tick" rather than handwritten, as evidence of hubbie agreeing to the PPI. He didn't even realise it was ticked, and certainly received no other info. about the PPI - daft thing is he wouldn't have been able to claim on it anyway.

As its MBNA's final response -you can now send to FOS - but don't expect anything too soon, my OH sent his claim in January and its still not been allocated to a case worker!

Thank you Julie, is his argument that the tick may have been forged? I can't argue that unfortunately but I do believe that it was not correctly assessed whether the product was suitable for me and I received no further information about it or my rights to cancel. Which is my complaint, I will send it to the FOS, I'm not expecting a quick resolution, I imagine it will take several months to sort out but I'm not in any hurry.
    Thank you

  • Yup, his argument is it did not then or now meet his needs - he is in work where he can't be made redundant, only dismissed (police officer) and the PPI only covers redundancy.
The "tick" was filled in by the computer generated print out of the CCA - not forged - but not requested either.
  • I have just only today had the same final response letter. They seem to be sending everyone the same letter?

Is it worth going to Financial Obudsman.. I would like to know if anyone has successfulloy after receiving this letter.
