Paypal payment

How long will people wait to receive the item they have won when paying by paypal? I know, it's early days as it is only a week gone. The problem is I have e-mailed this seller three times asking when he will post as I am going away next week for three weeks, and I need to take the item with me. So far, no reply. Thanks

    :) hi,

is the item bought from an international destination or uk?

It can be frustrating when you wait for items and the seller doesnt reply to emails. Usually there is a good reason.........illness, pc problem, away on holiday/business

If the seller is international, postage can often prove the delay with customs etc.

I would personally give it a few more days ........you could always request sellers contact details from ebay and give them a ring........thats if they are legit details!
keep emailing though (politely!) . If you dont get any contact you'll just have to report it to paypal and ebay.

I would be hesitant to leave neg feedback if it came to that as you often find 'tit for tat' and get left it yourself when you are in the right! :)

The seller is registered in Europe, but located in UK. I have got his contact details from e-bay, nothing much except a mobile phone number, strange because it starts with 0709***, I do not think there is a UK mob No with the third digit as an 0, unless it is foreign. I will wait a bit longer, but will not be able to a paypal chargeback as I will be away. I understand I have 30 days to do it. Thanks for your help.

    hi again,

You have 30 days to file a complaint with paypal. this doesnt necessarily mean you will get any monies back unless payment protection was offered through paypal . Paypal can only refund monies if they find seller to be in the wrong and the seller has money in his/her account.

if paypal protection offered you can claim up to £250 I believe.

If its not offered and you fail to get a paypal refund if it does indeed come to that, then there is also aclaim proceedure through ebay.

    :)

    No reply to your e-mails......???

I would have the alarm bells ringing.

    Phone him/her asap...might be a dud number!!!

Keep a daily check on his feedback rating; thats where the first indication of problems arise....or else he will suddenly become unregistered.

Also do an advanced search by seller......see what else he has sold recently and contact the buyers.

PM and I'll give you hand if you want a second opinion. Some are just useless.

I too had a case like this - paid by PayPal within minutes of the end of the auction, P&P stated 1st Class, thought I'd get it within days.

Took a lot of grief and around 25 days to get my goods - and was threatened with Neg feedback.
Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.

Benji, this seems very similar to mine, the seller is not by any chance registered abroadd but trading in UK. I read one of his feedback and that person said it took him more than 2 wks to get his item. My main concern is I will be away soon and will not be able to do a paypal surcharge. How did you get your item? The seller is not responding despite sending him a few e-mails. The mob number seems foreign, have not tried it yet as I do not know how much it will cost. Is there any way I could find where this number is from (country). Thanks.

As long as you start the paypal chargeback before the 30 days it can carry on past the 30 day limit. If you are only away for a week or so then start the process before you go as you have 10 days to respond to anything raised by the seller.

Don't miss your deadline and let a badly performing seller get away with it.

Isn't Paypal chargeback pointless though? By the time the 10 days are up the seller can easily withdraw all of their funds into their bank account - I just don't see the point? :-/
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)

I just received an e-mail from the seller telling me my item will be despatched to-day. Hopefully, I will get it safely and "not lost in the post."

Thanks to you all of your for your advice and help.

Received item this morning, well packed by recorded delivery at seller's own expense. I do feel a bit guilty now, I would not have been concerned if only he had answered my e-mail, it took 4 days to get an answer. Won't anybody been concerned in my position!! Reading back on his feedback, I have noticed another buyer mentionned the slow delivery, but the item itself is excellent and a bargain at least 50% less than the shop.

I usually leave a week before I contact the seller and since I was going away soon, I was a bit anxious to get my item. Anyway, I am glad, he did deliver. I guess, I have read too many scams on e-bay to make my hair stand up. Thanks again to all of you for your good advice.
