talk talk and 1899

My friend has just signed to talk talk and now finds that her 1899 overide will not work. Is this something anyone else has found? What can she do?

Welcome to the MSE forums pennyr.

Talk Talk have been doing that for over 2 years now - see HERE.

The only thing which might work is using 1899's 0808 1 708 708 or 020 81 804 804 gateway access numbers instead of the 4-digit prefix. The charges are higher in most cases and Talk Talk might, by now, have latched onto and blocked them too - but they're worth a try.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Ttthanks Heinz - I'm doing that now but a dialer was sooooo good.

Can you not program the dialler with the 0808 access number with 3 or 4 pauses at the end?
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
