Selling a house to pay Inheritance tax?????

    Could you not raise a small mortgage against one or more of the properties and use that to pay the tax.

    that would be one option, but i think the tax can be found , without selling anything. I was just wondering with my initial post about CGT.

    My aunt left me the properties, or her share, and I have now had a long talk to my mum, and she will gift me her half of the properties, so i have them all. of course, she will have to survive at least 3 years, for the IHT to start scaling down, and 7 to wipe it altogether.

    just wish they had done this earlier, but I cant dwell on these things too much :D
