Thanks for all the comments and attachments that have now been placed on this thread. It seems there isn't much we can do other than be very angry that VOA seems to have disregarded it's key promise, the one that for many of us was the reason we chose the account in the first place. I will still keep my eyes open to see if there is anything more that can be done. Does anyone know if Martin reads any of these threads and if there is any way we can get him to kick up a stink on our behalf? As I am new to all this I don't really know if this is a possibilty.0

I suppose we could try BBC Watchdog? Anyone up for it?0

would i be worth someone drafting out some standard complaint letters and some contacts at these organisations e.g. FSA etc then we could all print off and sign and send? surely the more official complaints these places e.g. watchdog get the more chance of them acting?0

I got the letter last night. I thought fine, great, I'll just switch. I had no idea just how bad the mortgage market had got: even with the lack of rate cut, I'm paying 6.35%; I can't find anything out there that comes close!
The One Account management have obviously realised that it doesn't matter how much they p1$$ off their client base; we just haven't got any choice.
It's quite disturbing to realise they could pull the same trick again. They could even get away with a rate hike irrespective of the BoE rate.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
My suggestion is to post our feelings on review centre and ciao for other people to read.
The internet is a powerful tool and readers do take into account other peoples views.
Reading the posts on this site indicates to me that the average One Account holder is highly intellegent, financially savvy, and believes in honesty and integrety.
Like Steve says 6.35% in the current climate is still competitive and do you want the hassle of re-mortgaging to a standard package with the possibility of a low house valuation.
Better the devil you know. Just ride out the storm and pray for no further hikes.
Now thats a different issue0 -

It also suggests that many have lo-o-ong memories, and aren't likely to forget this little clanger once the market is more competitive again.0 -
hi all, I am very disappointed in the oneaccount now,
I only started it in december07 and have been really pleased up until now ,
i e-mailed them as soon as i got the letter expressing my disappointment ,and received the standard response. saying my correspondence as been logged.
i reallly hope this can be turned around in the future so i can feel as if i made the right choice my taking out this account.
if it happens again i will have to reconcider my options .
i hope everyone will a least send them a message so they realise how we all feel.you go in the cage ! cage goes in the water ! sharks in the water ! our shark :eek:0 -

Whilst it's all good to talk fighting talk, I don't think anyone has a hope of getting the result they want from OneAccount/RBS. Nowhere in my (and no reason to beleives others are different) contract does it state that their rate will follow the BOE, just several letters with shallow sales-speak wordings. I would love to be proved wrong though!
In the coming days/weeks I'm sure other banks will be doing the same .....0
