Old Credit Cards

I had an RBS credit card four years ago, got fed up with it and payed it off in full. Now (as part of a bitter divorce), I need to prove that it was me that actually paide the balance off in full. I cant remember exactly when I paid it but I now need to prove I did. I have rang the credit card services at the RBS credit card centre but they could not help me or give me any advice who or where I can get this information. Please, please, please can anyone help as I need the information as a matter of urgency now. Thanks.:D

  • Have you thought about getting your bank statements. They can get them to go as far back as you like. They only take a couple of weeks to come through and cost around £5 to have sent to you.

I have used this method before to prove I have paid something. Hope this helps.

If the card was closed, the settled date will be shown on your credit reports.

Once you know the date, simply order a few bank statements which cover the period around that date.

They may charge (see your T&C's), or may send them for nothing if you've been a long time customer?

Another option might be to make a SAR of your bank under the DPA. The bank may send statements to satisfy this, and the most they can charge is £10...for the lot.
