Recycling/selling aluminium window frames?

Hi, we are looking at replacing our aluminium windows with new UPVC double galzing and one of the salesman we have had round talked about a discount to take our old windows away as the aluminium is worth something. No one else has mentioned this and we are not going with the company as they are too expensive. Has anyone managed to recycle/sell their aluminium frames for cash? If yes roughly how much did you make? Also whio did you sell it to?

old ally is approx 700/800 per tonne.
a few old frames is hardly heavy though. remember ally is very light.
prob better to freecycle them.

I always collect old metals off jobs and take it to the scrap man. I am getting 65p / kilo at the moment for aluminium You could get between £40 - £80 for scrap. I dont think you will have much luck on free cycle as ali frames are now being taken out and replaced. Your best bet is the scrap dealer and use the proceeds to have a night out! I think the salesman offering a discount is propbably just a sales ploy!
