Booking train tickets for eastbourne break

Hi i'm going to eastbourne from stevenage for a long weekend end of may, i have a network railcard, so return for 2 going off peak is £51.50 which is good , looking to book through trainline via quidco (1% cash back) not done this before so was hoping someone might tell if there was a better way, will pay with debit card , also does it matter if we go via kings coss -victoria-eastbourne, or decide to go via the thameslink to gatwick-eastbourne do we have to state before hand our route ?

realised i've put this in the wrong place
  • Wrong forum, so I'll be brief. I believe trainline charge booking fees/credit card fees. These will negate any cashback. Try https://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com, you can book any train ticket via the site with no booking/cc fees, so you should be able to find the same price.

Trainline charge for Credit Card ..... but not for Debit Card. There isn't a booking fee, as such, but they do now charge a postal fee for sending the tickets out ... £1 from memory. But you can pick the tickets up from the fast ticket machines foc.

But do be cautious that they add (Columbus) travel insurance onto every ticket. If you don't want it - just uncheck the box.

The 1% cashback isn't going to make you rich .... but I suppose it's better than nothing. and I've always found Trainline v reliable.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
