So your yearly bill will be approx 48x £288 = £13,824

You'll get approx £13000 of this back through tax credits meaning basically your childcare is free :)
More or less. Doesn't seem right does it? That's exactly why I am looking for assurances. I had expected to get some help but to be "helped" out to this extent seems far to good to be true. I expected (but would rather not!) to have to tighten our belts a fair bit once I return to work with no3 but it almost looks like I have inadvertantly played the system almost. Won't encourage me to think about no4 though:eek: .

How do the government confirm that the money they give a parent for childcare actually gets spent on childcare?

As from what i can see, its money that is paid and not actual childcare vouchers??

Whats to stop someone from claiming the childcare element and then having their child cared for by a family member for free?

Do you need to provide proof that they are in care or do they just take your word for it?

Genuine question, just intrigued to see if some people may/can abuse the system.

I suppose if Granny chose to register herself as a Childminder and jump through the hoops the Care Commission required, you could use family.

Do you need to provide proof that they are in care or do they just take your word for it? You need to provide them with the Registration Number, Name and Address and the body they belong too ie Care Commission. I keep all the invoice and statements I receive if TCO choose to ask for them but tbh they could, and do randomly, check with the providers.

Genuine question, just intrigued to see if some people may/can abuse the system.
Keep being told my messages are too short so this is just a random sentence to see if I can now send it.............

You have to give the name and registration number of the nursery/childminder. I imagine they can check with them
