    did he not read his policy when it was sent to him, they usually say what points etc you have and if policy wrong to phone them etc.

    I don't know...I haven't asked him that...to be honest, I don't want him to dwell too much on hindsight...more on what he can do to rectify this....he's been to the Citizen's Advice Bureau and they said they would write a letter, basically saying he's broke...I've also got him to speak to a solicitor I know of...he confirmed what has been written in the previous posts...he also left his job and closed his accounts so that the car insurance company can't ask him for money....he's going to work cash-in-hand.

    Just because you are broke, doesn't mean you don't have assets that can be seized or the judgement could rule on a monthly payback as a CCJ lasting many years.

    So your friend is reckless.

    I've got friends' who can't do certain jobs and couldn't even claim benefits for years because they don't have a traceable employment history and didn't pay NI.

    It's better that he actually sits down with the CAB (as it's free) and works out a way that he can pay the insurer back a small amount a month.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
