Manufacturers fuel consumption figures are calculated in special lab conditions and not in real life.
You can use them to compare vehicles but don't expect to get that figure out on the road.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

Running costs are so much more than just mpg, which IMO is about the least important aspect of a car.0

Not if you do lots of miles, although I would agree that there is likely to be so little difference in the types of cars you look at that it's a waste of time looking.
I would be one who'd rather buy a cheap second hand big car with a big engine and low MPG, than spend £6k or whatever on a Toyota Aygo.0 -
