Hi I have a cookworks breadmaker and I found that all the pre-packaged mixes did not work well, once I started putting the ingredients in individually and making the bread from scratch, the loaves have been much better, it is a bit of trial and error though.
  • dubgirl, I have just done a loaf with my own ingredients and still over an hour to go but already the loaf os touching the lid, which it never did before. Heres hoping it works.

  • LB 260grams of strong white and 260grams of brown flour, added a teaspoon and a quater, 310 water and half teaspoon salt and 2 table spoons of sugar.... oh and two table spoons of butter. We will see what happens with this.

I've got the cookworks one from Argos. I'm very happy with the white loaves I get following the instructions but every wholemeal one I've made has sunk in the middle. I've been having a look at past posts and it seems like this can happen if you use too much water so I'm going to reduce the amount of water for my next wholemeal loaf and see what happens.

  • My 50/50 bread came out good, a tin bit sunken at the top, butthis was only slight. I wonder if a tiny bit too much yeast as it did touch the lid and if it opened then maaybe that caused it to sink.......... Hmmmmmmm, trial and error me thinks. I need more seeds in it, put some sulower seeds in but they went no where.

Hi, I have not had a problem with either white or brown, however for the wholewheat loaves, I have mixed in some regular bread flour as well. The only thing I have found is that the recipes in the manual recommend too much sugar in my experience.
