Bread made with eggs?

My friend makes her bread with eggs - none of the recipes in my book has eggs in the ingredients. She's on hols at the mo so I can't ask her, does anyone have a recipe for it?

I thought that too :D But she said 'no, the eggs go in the breadmaker with the other stuff. It's yummy. I'll ring you with the recipe.' Well she didn't ring. Probably cos I laughed at her :rotfl:

    2lb loaf

    3 eggs
(make up to 310ml with water)
    560g strong white flour
    2 tsp salt
    2 tbsp milk powder (optional)
    2 tbsp sugar
    4 tbsp butter/oil
    1 sachet (2 1/2 tsp) yeast.

Put the eggs in a measuring jug and top up to the right level with water. use your Basic Loaf setting.

Edit: Is this the right size for your breadmaker or do you need quantites for a 1 1/2 lb loaf?

I just grabbed it out of my trusty breadmaker handbook - you didn't think I'd memorised it did you? :)

I did manage to remember that it was there though! :p;):):D

  • There is a yummy Jewish bread called Challah which is made with eggs - it's usually plaited/braided (which you obviously cannot do in a breadmaker!) but I don't think it will taste any different if it's not:

Brioche loaf has eggs in it too and is also delicious. :)
