TalkTalk, end of

Does anyone have experience of TalkTalk charges beyond the free year? I’d like to know how to calculate the precise date when off-peak calls will be charged for on Talk 1 +12. Is it the anniversary of your “Go-live” date (some two weeks after joining) or is it done by billing date which can be different? Do you end up with slightly more or slightly less than 12 full months? (I understand one poster who emailed TalkTalk to ask was told their 12 months end in December even though they joined last summer!)

Are you charged for weekend calls after 1 year? The pages that describe free weekend calls give the impression of an offer to new customers. The full price list still indicates weekend charges for Talk 1:

I haven't checked yet but need to soon as mine ends next month but I assume that what will happen is I will remain on TalkTalk2 but be charged the monthly fee for the free w/end and evening calls unless I ask to be dropped to TalkTalk1.

The way it normally works is that you continue on the existing plan but it becomes chargable (as mentioned by edinburghlass) but I would recommend emailing them over the exact date on which this will happen.
  • The offer of 12 months of free off-peak calls had two versions around this time last year. Those joining Talk 2 had the monthly fee waived for the period. Those joining Talk 1 were not charged for off-peak calls in the first year. Those on Talk 2 need to take action, but timing may be straightforward if the fee is linked to the billing cycle. Those on Talk 1 +12 (the more prudent option, needing no cancellation) will presumably start getting charged for calls from some date, which I am trying to predict. (According to the poster I referred to above, emailing TalkTalk didn’t make things any clearer so if anyone can describe experience of charges it’d be really useful.)

I was on talk 2 + 12 . When I got to my final month I phoned Talk Talk and was offered free weekend calls on talk one .I was put through to there "option team " I did say I was considering moving to another providor and they extended free evening end weekend calls for another year . They call it "price match " they will match a competitor .My parents ,brother and sister all did the same and all got another year . My friend was refused another free year because most of his calls where to mobiles .He was offfered 30 minutes off free mobile calls for 3 months .He phoned back 2 weeks later and asked for the free calls to be extended they said yes .He didnt have to say he was moving to another providor .So he got 30 minutes of free mobile calls for 3 months & free evening & weekend calls for a year ,not a bad deal .It just depends who you get on customer service .Just remember they dont want to let customers go and they WILL extend your existing offer to keep you .
