Please Help - I appear to have lost itunes library

Help!!:o

I have a new external hard drive and whilst transferring my documents onto that i seem to have got rid of my husbands itunes library, all the songs have vanished.

Short of re adding them all (thousands) is there any way to either recover them or take them off the ipod and back onto itunes????

Ooh thank you. Once its off will it be picked up again by itunes? I was hoping to move it all across onto the new hard drive, do i just need to move itunes over or would i have have it all on the laptop still?

do a windows seach of your computer for lost itunes or music files . you can also go to www.download.com and find a free downloadable program that searches your computer deeper or recovers deleted or lost files. i am not a 'techie' but this kind of happened to me and i managed to find itunes easially.
once you do find......
i think if you move them from the location itunes remembers them to be in, ie moving from comp music folder to external hard drive, itunes usually remains in same location with all songs listed but cannot find location of actual file to play song vid file, songs will erase from ipod nest time you sync etc, but can plug in hard drive with files and tell itunes theyre there, but long process. also can change i tunes settings to avoid synching everytime, select specific playlists to alter or add to only before synching ipod and you can remove songs safely. ps i think !

I use Sharepod in conjunction with my Ipod & Itunes.

Also great for creating a back up too
