Advice following an RTA

Hi
I was recently involved in an RTA; I went into the back of a van but my car bore the brunt of the accident whereas the only damage to the van was to the tow bar. The third party have put in a claim, what advice can anyone give? Can I get the third party's contact details from my insurance company as they were given directly to them when the accident happened, and would it be worth trying to settle this claim outside of the insurance company? I've heard that tow cars can be quite cheap?
Also I was charged an £89 call out charge by green flag when I knew that the car couldn't be repaired at the roadside. Can anyone tell me whether I should have been charged for this or give me any advice on this at all?
I'd much appreciate any help you can give me
Many thanks
