credit for new (second hand) car

I have recently stated a new well paid job in liverpool, about 50 miles from home, I currently use the wifes car but that leaves her at home without transport which isn't good if she needs to get nipper anywhere or just wants to go out.

So i'm looking for a new jamjar, was going to get something for £500 max from paper but as I will be doing 23k miles a year needs to be reliable, next option is HPI/credit i can afford £200 a month easy, only problem is a CCJ, does anyone know of any companies that will still consider me and also that are flexible on millage? or even is HPI the right way to go? does anyone lease a car? how does that work?

So many questions... anyway hope you can help

Many Thanks

£500 can get you something reliable that will do 23k miles a year if you choose carefully. You could even give the wife the banger till later.

  • Hi
As annewman has suggested, if possible, why don't you get a small car ( Nissan Micra Or a Corsa) and let your wife use it locally when "she needs to get nipper anywhere or just wants to go out"?

If not, you can get a relaible car for up to £1000 easily, as anewman has said, if you choose carefully. What about a P reg Nissan Almera, or an R reg Toyota Corolla or even an mk2 Mondeo?

    Good luck

    Thanks for all the advice,

I forgot to mention that the wife's car is on HP and that we are only allowed 12K miles a year!

    Cheers
