Rental Property - Terminating Contract

Hi Everyone,
My current rental contract is due to end in August. After looking through my terms I can see the agent requires two months notice for cancellation of the contract.
My question is are there any 'template' documents out there to which is suitable for a letter to send to the agent?
And should I send the letter to both the agent, and owner of the property (I have their details) and pay my rent into their bank.
Thanks in advance!

What do you want to say in the letter? Do you want to renew your contract or not?0

Hi,
I would like to end the contract..Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0 -
If you are on an AST (Assured Shorthold Tenancy)and there is no break clause, you are committed until the expiry of the original Fixed Term in August (unless the LlLagrees otherwise) and you don't have to give notice - you can just leave on the due date.
However, it is courteous to let a LL know that you won't be wanting to stay on, and the letter simply needs to say that you are confirming that you will be moving out on the contract expiry date.0 -

Are you sure? I thought most ASTs had a clause that if one months notice was not given at the end of the term then it would automatically roll over onto a monthly contract.poppy100 -
If your LL was onto it, s/he would have asked you around 2 months before the AST was due to end if you wanted to stay on. The LL could have offered you another AST or agreed with you to let it roll on to periodic. If it went to periodic, then you will have to give a months notice, but if you agreed that you would leave at the end of the present AST then you can just leave. It's all just a matter of communication really.0
