My dad has got a Evesham Axis Spirit Desktop/PC and wanted to upgrade the ram. We checked on www.crucial.com and although it said we should get DDR PC3200 we checked the 1GB already in and it was DDRPC4200. It has 4 slots and we oredered another 2GB.. It seems it doesnt like 3GB only 2 * 1GB. Will I have to sell the other 1GB or is there any way it will work?

Have you tried the 2gb in the first slot and the 1gb in the 2nd ?
Does the user manual for the board say it will take the memory you are trying to use ?
It sounds like you have bought the same speed memory but if they are not the same I've found reducing the speed in the bios to match the slowest one allows it to be recognised.0 -

I have an Evesham PC which I'm pretty sure uses the same motherboard. It seems it is really fussy about having matched pairs of RAM modules. I went through the same pain. Furthermore it is quite fussy about the order. Ideally you should have two pairs of the same size. If you have two different sized pairs then experiment with the order they are plugged into to get all the RAM recognised. I'm 99% certain you won't get anywhere at all with just three modules. I will work with one module, two modules or four modules, but not three. Weird.
