Hi guys , first time on this , I am currently with scottish power on a dual fuel tarriff which ends on 30th april 2008, scottish power have just written to me to offer another fixed price deal to 2011 , although after reading the small print I will have to pay them a small monthly premium for fixing the price ( £1.50 for gas and £1.50 for elec ) thats £36 a year I would be giving them if i go with this fixed energy deal till 2011

i have checked switching providers, and they are all saying i could switch to npower and save between £ 2 and £17.50 by doing this the now,

does anyone have any advice ??????

  • Hi, I've just switched to the SP 2011 fix (just electricity) I was under the impression that the £1.50 was incorporated into the standing charge or tier 1 units (although I could have miss-read :-s)

As regards NPower, I would personally pay the extra £17.50 per year to be with someone other than them!

Perhaps not good money saving, but I also value my own time, and from prior experience, my time dealing with NPower's inevitable cockups would come to more tha £17.50 lol

    MP
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

My advice would be do not even consider switching to npower. I changed to them 2 years ago, purely because they were the cheapest. However now for me they are one of the dearest.
Look at other threads about npower to see what underhand methods they use to acheive this.
I can't wait to leave them, to Atlantic I think.
