Just a thought on this test process for a newly set up account. Wouldn't it be safer to put £2 in and take £1 out leaving a balance of £1 in the account? That way you don't run the risk of some over-zealous bank clerk thinking you've removed 'all' your funds and want the account closed ;)

I've been debating whether to go for KE or BM Esaver.
BM Esaver pulls in via DD so no loss of interest inward bound. Only needs to be opened with £1.

The T%C say that if the balance falls below £1000 you get 0% interest

    KE FAQs:
To obtain the highest interest rate, your balance must never go below £1000. A combined maximum of £1 million may be saved per person across all your accounts.

    T&C 7.1 Account opening
    7.1.3 Minimum Combined Balance
If you hold a Savings Account but not a Fixed Term Deposit Account, the required minimum balance on the
Savings Account is £1. However, if you hold a Savings Account and a Fixed Term Deposit Account, there is no
minimum balance for the Savings Account..............
    and
    12.1.1 Minimum Balance
If you have a Savings Account, but not a Fixed Term Deposit Account, the minimum balance that you can have
in the Savings Account is £1. However, interest will only accrue if the balance in the Savings Account is £1,000
or more. For every calendar day that the balance in the Savings Account goes below £1,000, no interest will
accrue. Please see the Interest Rates section of the Website for further details.
