Can I still do a SBT with Virgin???

My Virgin CC arrived today and I would like to know if I can do a SBT (ie BT to my Current Account rather than another CC)?

If I have to do it to another CC, can I then put that card in credit and withdraw cash without penalty?

Now, I know I could just phone the Virgins (ahem) and ask them, but I thought it would be so much more entertaining to ask here - T'internet provides clueless armchair experts with a medium to pass on inaccurate advice and perpetuate urban myths, I just had to give it a go.

Cheers!

There are endless threads on the subject which can be found with a few seconds effort. e.g. this one

No. Certainly not through a cash advance, though sometimes they will let you take the money if you say it was an error. Not something to depend on.

95% of Credit Limit tranferred to Current Account at no charge.

    What a wonderful website.

A&L £125 incentive arrived this week.
Thousands of Tesco Points due soon.
    What next?

    No, really, what next?!

    Not so fast...

It appears the Virgin T&C's have changed overnight. Their "may be a charge" has become "will be a charge" for balance transfers. Also, the charge is now capped at £50 - not £35 as before.

I accept that you may get away with £35 as you obviously applied prior to this change, but I suspect you will definately now have to pay a fee.

Their T&C's used to say that they would always tell you if a fee would be charged. Be interesting to see if they inform you of this when you do the SBT (bearing in mind the timing of your application/activation).

Let us know how you get on.

I've just got the virging cc too. When it arrived I rang to activate my card and to transfer a balance to my current account. I asked the following questions:

    1. Is there a fee for a BT - No and not for any made in the next 6 months
    2. if the BT is to a current account it is classed as a BT and not a cash transfer/advance etc? - Its a BT
    3. And the rate is 0% interest for 9 months? - Yes
    4. So can you tell me the exact date you will start charging interest?
    5. How do I set up a DD for the minimum payment - online
    6. Whats ya name? (and jot down the time called as well - just in case!)

    All done! :T
