Can anyone tell me how to move this thread? I should have put it up with slcworker, who has written "help with student loans". If you could either bump it up there or tell me how it is done, maybe i have to have permission to do it.
Hello I was helping my son to fill in his student loan company application this morning. His dad and I hyave been living outside UK and EU for the dates that are mentioned in the online application 1 Sept 2005 till present. We have put the dates we have been outside of UK/EU in the form - which is all dates. He has been in UK while we have been away.I am now wondering what difference it will make to his application, does anyone know?We are all Brits just we have had to work away from hoem for a while.Any help would be great, now that we have sent the form off we have at least six weeks to wait and the worry has already started, i get the impression he is going to be classed as an international student and that would be a huge problem to get over. Thanks any help at all would be absolutely great.

I think you're right to be worried as it sounds to me as if he'll be classed as an overseas student. Presumably he's been in the UK himself "for the purpose of study" only? Hopefully there'll be a loophole that you can use.0 -
Hmm I would recommend contacting the LEA - they may want you to send a more detailed written explanation of his & your circumstances - better to send in soner rather than later. The rules around this are very complicated and it is likely to take some time to get an answer from the LEA as to your son's entitlement if any from the LEA. It is a possibility he may be turned down by the lEA as an overseas student. I'd recommend contacting the LEA quickly just in case!0
