Credit crunch forces Anthea and Grant to cancel their summer ball

Grant and Anthea will be fine...these sort of people always walk away from their sinking ship smelling of roses.
I agree. However, there's always some 'investor' who won't take it lying down and will seek revenge. Look at the bloke who used to run Inside track - employs a small army to keep him safe. I'd rather live an ordinary life, than have to worry about some 'nutjob' wanting to end it!0 -

Oh for sure. However, they flogged most of their overpriced crap to wealthy Middle Easterns who are wealthy enough to take the hit.0 -

"Methinks the lady doth protect too much", if you're quoting (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Plenty of average joes over on housepricecrash predicted this credit crunch long ago, whilst Alan Sugar and Bovey where merrily buying up property to develop.
Confirms what I've always thought about many entrepeneurs - they aren't any cleverer than the rest of us, all they are is risk takers, without any particular insights or midas touch - just risk takers is all.
Ok most of us lack the guts to take big risks, but this makes us no less worthy than the high rollers - we are just more content with what we have.0 -
One only has to read this

to know that the man was
a) starting up a business way after the need was already there
b) using Antheas money for it
I do hope she didn't borrow against her lovely home that you see on telly. I like that place, it's ever so clean not. Someone I know went on her programme and said that there are cobwebs & dust despite what it said on tv. She (the person on it) wasn't that dirty either.0
