Was hoping someone could help with a little electrical problem I'm having - it would seem that on a few of the double outlet sockets in my flat, only one side is working. It's been like this since I moved in. Today I tried removing one of the faceplates to see if there was any obvious loose connection but everything seemed to be ok.
I'd find it hard to believe multiple sockets were faulty, but maybe there's an underlying prolem

Do the double sockets have individual switches for each socket? If so, it's possible the contacts on one of the switches have worn out - replace the faceplates, and the problem should be solved."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

If there is a working double socket in the house - switch it with a 'faulty' one and see what happens.....
Alternatively, buy a new one... the exisiting ones could have been a bad batch.0 -
Ah, thanks, I'll try replacing the faceplates thensomething missing0

Have a look at your fusebox - there may be a fuse blown or a circuit breaker tripped in there. In the beginning, the Universe was created. This made a lot of people angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea. DNA.0

How on earth is that going to make a scrap of difference to one side of a twin socket..?0 -
Ah........
That will teach me to read the post properly. Doh.
I concur with the first advice it's got to be the sockets themselves. In the beginning, the Universe was created. This made a lot of people angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea. DNA.0 -
Replace the sockets with decent ones (MK or GET)
MK in B&Q, GET in homebase.baldly going on...0
