Blacklistings?

Hi , took the advice of the replies on here and paid off my daughters debt that was taken out at her Ex Boyfriends address in her name for him. It will be put down to experience hopefully.
I am however concerned about the possible 'Blacklisting' for her at my address. This address was never in the equation (although the address is where the debit card to pay it off is) and she is not ever to be using her ex's address again so what is the siuation when she applies for credit. I do not truly understand the workings of debt situations.
The debt was chased up by Buchannen, Clarke and Wells (rude and bullies) for T Mobile. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Addresses are not blacklisted against all common belief :) Credit records are linked to people and people only. However... IF her credit rating at another address has been damaged then it doesn't matter where she moves, it will move with her till it drops off her records. You paying off her debt will not link your credit records so her bad credit rating will not affect your score and vice versa.
If she's had damage on her record she'll just have to start building it back up I'm afraid and having the debt marked as "settled" will be the first start. Other than that it's just being careful and making sure that she manages her finances well in the years to come.

Only if she ever quotes her old (ex boyfriends) address when applying for credit ;)

No... most banks/lenders who does a credit check will ask for 3 years of past addresses. Even if she didn't live there then I'm guessing as the debt was turned over to the debt collectors I'm pretty sure the debt will be on her credit report - most mobile phone companies are pretty narky about updating outstanding debts on your record...
Easy way to check is to get copies of her credit report from all 3 credit reference agencies...

Thanks for the replies but I am rather confused now as I have heard both these opposing views before.
I am presuming if my daughter goes for credit and gives our address as where she has been from birth, then how can they associate her with the Ex Boyfriends flat where she never lived but just put down his address for the purpose of the phone contract?
Then again I understand that it would be all too easy to get away with if that was the case....................any other views? I will indeed apply for a credit search for her. Thanks
