RAM compatibility

Hello all,
I've been prowing these forums and some of the people on here really seem to know what they're talking about so here goes:
I want to upgrade my ram... At the minute i have 2x 512 sticks. I don't know what type is is other than what i can read off the sticks itself
Corsair Value select
Vs512mb667d2
Basically i want to upgrade so i have 2 x 1GB sticks but i dont know which would be compatible as there is so many different types out there.
My motherboard is a M2V-MX by ASUS.
Does anyone know of some good, hopefully cheap, RAM that would work for me ? (prefereabley corsair as ive used it for 2 years now with no problems so I see no reason to change unless it is an expensive brand)

Crucial will find compatible memory - at a great price and excellent service too.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Ah that is excellent that, cheers that help me alot.
But now though, is crucial any good, I havent heard of them before but im not exactly up to date with the computer stuff.
But its really weird... the 2Gb (2x1GB) is £48 and the 4GB(2x2GB) is only £51. Why is this? An increase of £3 for 2GB of RAM? The increase from the 1GB to the 2GB was £25. I just dont understand

here is the link for it http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=M2V-MX0

Are you kidding? Guaranteed compatible with no quibble guarantee if you order what the memory selector tells you and a lifetime warranty.
I've been using Crucial RAM in system builds for over a decade. They've been around a very long time.0 -
The first two are Ballistix ( fancy stuff ), the third is standard memory, go for the third one, if that is what you need.;)0

So it would be better to get the standard 4GB than the fancy 2GB?0

4Gb is overkill unless you do a lot of encoding or CAD work, 2Gb is enough for most of today's applications and games.
Also your motherboard chipset may not support 4Gb (though most do) and if you're using XP or Vista 32 bit Operating system anything above 3Gb isn't recognised either. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

I see, is there a way to find out if my M2V-MX motherboard will support the 4GB then?
Im using XP.0 -

That depends, my system recognises 3501 Mb of my 4 Gb, I have a 512Mb Graphics card so the system is using 83Mb. It does depend on your system though.
If Crucial say 4Gb will fit then ti should be OK, but as a double check this says it will recognise 4Gb as well. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
