I'm a professional photographer myself and what I would recommend is doing an search on the internet for studios in your area that do the modern style of 'Lifestyle Portraiture' and look at the quality of work that they have on their website.
Since the advent of Venture Studios across the U.K. the modern style of portrait photography has been a kick up the backside for many photographers and has revitalised many a portrait studio who were for many years doing the same style of work year in,year out. Choose a studio that is probably run as a small family business ( e.g. husband & wife team ), as she may prefer a female photographer to take her pictures.
What to expect to spend ? Thats up to you as I would never comment on what other fellow photographers charge, coz i don't know what their running costs, investment in new equipment ( digital photography has been great but damned expensive in new cameras, computers ) and general costs of running their businesses are

i have not decided where er are going to go yet, i am waiting on a venture booklet if not there then orlan mills seems ok£900 towards next holiday...ta very much Mr T x0
