Combi boiler is "chugging"

I have a leak in my kitchen at the moment, which appears to be coming from the boiler. Somebody is coming from the council to look at it on Tuesday, However, I have just washed my hair and whilst showering started to notice that there is a "chugging" sound from the boiler and now the hot water isn't coming out as fast as it used to e.g. only a very small amount of water is coming out whereas before it was a very heavy flow. This chugging is only happening when the water is running though. I thought that maybe my shower head was blocked so took the heads of the tap and tried to run the water that way but it is still a very small flow and a very small amount of water is coming out. Just my luck that my hair was full of shampoo when this started to happen.lol.

Anyway, I was wondering what this may be caused by and do you think the leak and this are connected? Could it be caused by the pressure gauge? I'm not very technical minded when it comes to boilers so I'm sorry if I'm not making any sense.

Also, the leak from the boiler seems to be worse at night because I have some paper towels down on the kitchen surface and during the day they are bone dry but as soon as I wake up in the morning they are soaking wet. I was wondering if anyone had any idea why this might be?

I know I have someone coming to look at it but I wanted to maybe prepare myself a bit for what it may be caused by. Thank you. :)

    Hi
Quite a few suspects, Divertor/diaphragm, blocked inlet filter. Depending on whether you have to top up the pressure the leak could be on any part of the boiler.

Would be interested to know what the outcome is. Post back?

    Heya.

    Thanks for that. :)

I'll definitely post back when I find out what's wrong. :) I'm slightly worried my boiler is going to blow up or something but when I emailed the council repair services office they said that the boiler would cut out long before that would happen. Is that true? I'm one of those people who worries about everything.

    Hi

Yes as a rule a boiler will cut out after a serious fault ( as well as not serious:mad:) It might make a bit of a racket before cutting out but that would it.Usually needs to be manually reset.
Use it as little as possible.
    Good luck.

    Thank you.

I'm trying to use it as little as I can. Instead of putting the heating on, I am putting more layers on instead and I'm trying not to use the water for too long when I have to just in case. :)

I'll let you know what happens on Tuesday. :)

    Hello. :)

I promised I would report back so here I am.

The boiler repairman came the other day day and said the leak isn't coming from the boiler. He told me to put paper towels down to soak up the water and leave it at that. I wasn't happy with what he told me to do as I think it is important to sort the problem out, not just mask it.

I emailed the council to tell them that I wasn't happy and they emailed back to tell me that a plumber would be coming to look at it today. I am so glad I emailed. The leak is coming from underneath my bath and the wall is starting to collect damp and mould from the people upstairs. I was worried it may have been something I had done accidentally and the plumbers said that it wasn't anything I had done. The bathroom wall is swelling and plaster is starting to come off of it. The plumbers have put some jay cloths under the bath to soak up the water and have left the bathroom window open to ventilate the room. They are coming back tomorrow to remove the bath and toilet, and some tiles and are going to maybe put a new bath in if they cannot sort the problem out. The wall will also be replastered.
